Cochran Associates is a full-service architecture and design firm located in Lawrenceville, one of Pittsburgh's most historic and interesting neighborhoods. It was opened by Keith Cochran in 1994 with the intent of providing quality design services for projects of all types, including Custom Residential Design, Historic Preservation and Adaptive Reuse, Commercial Interiors, High-tech Building Design, Museum Design, and Library Design. We also have made a commitment to sustainable design practices, and have incorporated them into most of our projects. Over the years, we have been very fortunate to work on a very diversified array of such projects, and have received numerous awards for historic preservation, and sustainable design. We are very proud of the Pittsburgh Project Guest House, which received the LEED gold rating given by the United States Green Building Council.

Cochran Associates uses ArchiCAD for all of it's projects. ArchiCAD is a state of the art CAD system which enables clients to view their projects in three dimensional drawings from the initial stages of design through the completion of the project. We can also create solar studies to view the effect of the sun on a building facade at a specific time on a specific selected day of the year.  Using fly-throughs of a project, clients may walk through the virtual environment in a "to-scale", animated  presentation. Our clients have told us that these three dimensional studies are instrumental in their understanding of the design.

Our approach to design and project management is straightforward.  We listen carefully to our clients to interpret their needs carefully into a design that accomplishes the aesthetic and budgetary goals, remains sensitive to it's environment, and provides lasting quality for years to come.
